Against mealybugs
Using beneficial insects against pests is the most biological way of pest control. Mealybugs (also called mealybugs) are common pests on poinsettias, Saintpaulia and other ornamental plants. They damage plants through their sucking activity and by excreting honeydew. The Australian ladybug Cryptolaemus montrouzieri is a natural enemy of mealybugs. A single ladybug can consume 300 mealybugs during its development.
Delivery takes place in the odd calendar weeks.
Description
Cryptolaemus larvae should be released only indoors. 20-25 larvae are enough for the treatment of about 3-4 houseplants of about 1.50 m height. The ideal temperature for the beneficial insect is 22-30 °C.
Please note: The larvae of the Australian lady beetle are covered with waxy excretions and thus resemble mealybugs. However, the beneficial insects are more active and significantly larger than the pests in the last two larval stages. By the way, Australian ladybugs cannot become an invasive species because they cannot overwinter outdoors in our latitudes.
