Hypoaspis Miles Predatory Mites

Against soil-dwelling pests
Hypoaspis Miles predatory mites for biological control of fungus gnat larvae in the soil. Fungus gnat larvae can cause root damage to various plants and seedlings. In the worst case, these cause the plants to die.
The soil-dwelling predatory mite (Hypoaspis Miles or Stratiolaelaps scimitus) efficiently controls fungus gnat larvae naturally. In addition to fungus gnats, the Hypoaspis predatory mite feeds on many other soil-dwelling animals such as springtails, earth fleas, root lice, centipedes as well as their eggs. The predatory mite is considered undemanding, tolerates a wide range of environmental conditions, and has low requirements for temperature and humidity.
The predatory mites regulate various soil-dwelling pests. However, the visible effect occurs later than when nematodes are used. When there is no more prey, the predatory mites also disappear.
Description
The predatory mites are active from 10 °C. The optimum temperature for use is between 12 °C and 30 °C. The predatory mites like moist soils, but can survive longer dry periods without problems. Predatory mite reproduction varies greatly depending on environment, food, and temperatures.
Application: Carefully apply the predatory mites with the supplied substrate on the area to be treated, One package is sufficient - depending on the infestation pressure - for 5 - 10 m2.
Instructions for fungus gnat control:
If the infestation is heavy and the treatment success should occur quickly, we recommend treatment with Traunem (nematodes). The use of Traunem is also often more efficient for potted plants with limited volume. The two beneficial insect species can also be used in combination.
